Besouro to be screened at Brazilian Film Festival in JHB
Besouro is an action movie set in 1920s Bahia, the story of a legendary capoeira fighter who uses the power of Candomble and Capoeira to fight the harsh conditions which, even post-abolition, the black population endured in Brazil. For those of you who haven't yet seen this awesome movie, it will be shown in Johannesburg for the first (perhaps and only) time next Sunday 4 July at 20:00 at the Bioscope near Ellis Park as part of the Brazillian Film Festival. There are only 70 seats available for the screening so be sure to get there early!

CDC takes the stage at the World Cup Opening Ceremony
The months of late night rehearsals, dress fittings and hours in traffic to Nasrec certainly paid off. Trying to get capoeiristas in sequence is like trying to herd cats, but we did it, one flawless machine. In front of two billion people. WE DID IT! Shweet like a lemon! This months student profile is on Andrea "Cansada" Peixoto from the Winchester Hills Class in the South of JHB. If she were a light bulb she sure wouldn't want Alejandro to be screwing her in - thats for sure!
