Cidade de Ouro celebrates four years of Capoeira in South Africa

August marks yet another milestone for Capoeira in South Africa as Cidade de Ouro celebrates their four year anniversary.

From humble beginnings in 2006 – CDO has gone from strength to strength and what originally started as a community project, is now a permanent brand in the West Rand. ”Our Student base has grown and we have been spreading the Capoeira Gospel” says Kevin Jackson, one of CDO’s instructors.

Some of CDO’s recent achievements include:

Grading (so many students over the past years)
Hosting a number of Mestre’s including Bogado, Santana, and Carlinhos
Running and hosting capoeira workshops
Organizing of shows and demo’s
WC Opening and Closing ceremonies

In celebration of this milestone, CDO will be having an open roda at their class on Tuesday 3 August, the details are as follows:

Kevin would like to thank his class for making CDO so special, as well thanking Jonathan, Mestre Paulo, Mestre Estivador, Quero-Quero, George and Mickey for all their hard work and support over the years.

2010 marks a massive milestone in the history of Capoeira in South Africa, both with CDO turning four, and Casa da Capoeira celebrating 15 years as South Africa’s leading Capoeira school.
